18.World’s End
|
Sri Lanka is a country, wonderfully gifted with immense natural beauty, which one can not believe, how such marvelous creations are emerged naturally or accidentally. World’s End is one such unbelievable formation, where there is an unthinkable abrupt vertical drop, at the end of vastly spread Hortan Plains.
There are two such locations around 0.8 km apart. One is Small World’s End having a drop of about 320 m and the other is Large World’s End with about 1300 m drop.
This sudden huge drop in front of the viewers, resembles that they have come to the End Of Their World, especially when the entire dipped area opposite them is suddenly covered with thick mist, as it happens frequently. This is a novel experience anybody can enjoy with slightly increased heart beat, to verify which you should visit the area invariably.Other than that, my power of expression and writing skill is not rich enough to create the actual picture in your mind. Balangoda – Haputale road also can be viewed below like a winding black ribbon, laid through green tea estates with running vehicles of size equivalent to small boxes of matches. |
