25.What Happened To My Bird Friends In My World?

Various types of birds are freely moving in the compound in front of my dwelling. Some are just loafing, some searching insects living in grass to partake as food. Few are just jumping from branch to branch in horticultural plants. One is having a bath in the bird’s bath.

But where are my favourite ones? Where are they now? Where are they gone? Why are they vanished?

Most of my eye-catching birds are lost forever. “Sudu Redi Hora” having the meaning of “White Cloth Thief”, with a long beautiful tail and the similar bird red in colour-”Gindara Hora” ( “Fire Thief “) are not seen today. “Kaha Kurulla” (”Yellow Bird”) who sits on large trees and makes a silent noise “Chwick Chwick” is also missing forever. “Vahi Lihini” ,who were coming in groups immediately prior to fall of rain and tiny “Vee Kurullo” (”Paddy Birds”) and green colour Parrots who were immense during paddy harvesting season are no more there.

Those days the paddy farmers had to erect puppets in paddy fields and to deploy children to chase Paddy Birds and Parrots from their fields, who were eating lot of paddy seeds.

Apart of that, there were bird catchers catching Paddy Birds and Parrots by laying a net on ground adjoining paddy fields. Once the birds rest on the net, their fingers with nails get entangled with the net.The Parrots so caught are sold for keeping as pets at houses and to use flesh of innocent Paddy Birds as a medicine to cure asthma.

Along with those birds, the birds catchers are also vanished. Those are the revolutions made in passage of time.
