Even from school days I was somewhat a silent man in general conversations but was vey fluent in delivering attractive speeches at the literary and religious societies. I suppose my talents in writing and speech were further enhanced due to performing duties as a lecturer for sometime, at the Training Centre of National Water Supply and Drainage Board, in preparing course material and lectures to newly recruited Technical Staff including Engineers.

I had some ability for athletics also as a long distance runner including cross – country races, high jump and pole vault, though I could not establish any college record.


Those days, special bamboos lean and light weight, imported from India was used for the event of pole vault.Once I was practising pole vault, the pole gave way when I was at the peak of the jump. Luckily I felt direct on to the bed of sand below, just missing the broken upper end of the bamboo which was still upright.
