Living standard of most people are now uplifted. The clay dwellings with thatched roofs have been replaced with modernized houses with elegant furniture, television and other various electronic equipment.

The other remarkable point is three figure salaries have now become four figure.

Most are grumbling, their income is insufficient to make ends meet. What is the reason for this?

Expenses related to all aspects are gone up. Irrespective of this, most are trying to maintain a posh life, well dressed, owning a car, eating from McDonalds, having membership of clubs, organizing parties and trying hard to reach upper class.

In my school days, I spent only 17 Cts. for my lunch, for which I got quarter pounds of bread, one dish of dhal and cup of plain tea from Brumpy Singho’s Hotel opposite De Mazenod College, Kandana. Today for the same quantity, I have to spent Rs. 40.00, which is an escalation of 23,529% of the expenses.

According to this, just to balance earning and expenditure one should receive an income of 23,529% of that got those days.

This is only one simple explanation by which I agree, a reasonable assessment can not be made at all.I am not an Economist to talk much on this subject. This is only one of my daydreams. In evaluating the degree of development of any country, I hope the experts will consider a lot of factors to arrive at a fair conclusion. Whether it is acceptable or not to experts, most laymen I suppose will agree with me.
