44.Basics Of Meditation
|
Various types of meditations are available out of which, the simplest is breathing meditation known as “Anapana Sathi Bhavana” in pali language. The meaning is “Mindfulness of Breathing”.
In attending to meditation, there is a specific, traditional way of sitting on floor with crossed legs; right palm on left facing up; Tips of thumbs just touching each other; straight back; half closed eyes; ———-. But the results we expect can be achieved, by sitting someother easy way or comfortably on a chair with straight back and closed eyes. It is essential to select a quiet place for meditation. One’s bed room may be selected for this purpose. At the beginning, it will be difficult to maintain attention only on the above mentioned sensation but the mind will tend to run here and there. It should not be taken seriously and should not try to give up meditation but just simply try to come back to the feeling expected. In the passage of time, you will gradually relax and you will be left alone from the rest of the world and you will forget yourself also during the course of meditation. Limit practising for only 5 minutes a day at the beginning, which may be increased gradually to 10 to 15 minutes. |
